Chocolate Banana Pops

Having a hard time feeding your kids their fruit? Well, here’s a quick and easy recipe to introduce your angels to bananas.

Ingredients:

3 large ripe bananas
115 grams (4 ounces) semi-sweet chocolate, chopped
1 tablespoon olive oil or vegetable oil

Garnish:

Chopped peanuts, hazelnuts, pecans, almonds, walnuts or pistachios Colored Sprinkles

Preparation:

Cut the bananas into half. Insert a Popsicle stick, a thick shish tawook stick, or a chopstick into the pieces of banana. Place on a piece of foil and freeze for 20 minutes (do not cover the bananas though).
Meanwhile, melt the chocolate and oil together (to thin down the chocolate) in a heatproof bowl placed over a water bath.

Remove the bananas from the freezer and, taking one piece of banana at a time, dip it in the melted chocolate, making sure the banana is completely covered with chocolate. If desired, roll (or sprinkle) the chocolate coated banana in your garnish. The chocolate covered bananas can be eaten right away or place them back in the freezer.

Once completely frozen, the bananas can be stored in a covered container, for about one week. To defrost the bananas, place them in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes before serving.

This recipe makes 6 servings in less than 30 minutes.
